ANGTHONG National Marine Park
Mu Koh Ang Thong are a chain of forty-two islands in the waters near Koh Samui. Day trips to these islands can be arranged from Koh Samui. These tours are available every day of the week and you can select which of the islands you wish to explore.
Location
Mu Koh Ang Thong Marine National Park, located in close proximity to Koh Samui, consists of forty-two islands. The park covers a total area of 102 sq.km of which about only 18 sq.km is land. The National park does not encompass the entire island chain, its jurisdiction covers about 82% of the total area. The park was established on 12th November 1980. Most of the island affairs are conducted from National Park Office on Koh Wua Ta Lap. This island has accommodations like bungalows and campsites.

Attractions
Koh Wua Talap
Koh Wua Talap, which means "Sleeping Cow Island" is one of the most attractive island in the Angthong Marine National Park. The park headquarters is located on Koh Wua Talap. Most day-trip tours to Angthong will stop over at Koh Wua Talap. There is a forest trail to the top to Koh Wua Talap. The climb is steep and the rocks jagged. Ropes are installed at several steep sections to help with the climbing.

A climb to the top of Koh Wua Talap is well worth the trip, as the scenery from there is simply breathtaking. There is a platform at the top for visitors to rest and enjoy the view. One can see the Angthong archipelago splayed out in all directions.
Koh Sam Sao
Koh Sam Sao: On the opposite side of Koh Mae Koh is Koh Sam Sao. These two islands are connected by a barely submerged peninsula, which creates a bridge during low tide. In addition to pristine beaches, the coral reef draws people to this island to swim and snorkel in the peaceful surrounding.

Located to the northeast of Koh Mae Koh, Koh Sam Sao is another interesting island to explore. It has a headland with a natural rock archway that can be negotiated by kayak at low tide, beyond which is a gently-sloping sandy beach suitable for swimming.
Koh Mae Koh
Koh Mae Koh: North of Koh Wua Ta Lap is Koh Mae Koh. This island is part of a circle made from a volcano underneath the water's surface. There is a viewpoint on the hill that can be reached via a charming wooden bridge.

Rising from the deep blue sea, most of these islets are covered by tropical rain forest. Cave, hidden lagoon and pristine beach, On our last trip to Samui, we engaged a local tour operator and cruised to Ang Thong for a day trip by speedboat.

Apart from swimming, snorkeling, canoeing and spelunking, our tour also stopped at Ko Mae Koh (Mother Island) that allowed us to view its hidden treasure - Emerald Lake or nicknamed as 'Blue Lagoon' in the movie 'The Beach' starring Leornardo de Caprio. Interestingly,
Climate
Mu Ko Ang Thong National Park has been influenced by monsoon that causes big waves and heavy rain, approximately 2,000 mm. of rain all the year round, and the temperature is approximately 23 oC.
